Learning about the culture of Brittany!

 Wednesday, June 19th, 6pm

Bonjour !

The weather is still... questionable here in Brittany, but it did not stop us from having fun activities these past few days!

We started off with some Breton dancing on Monday evening. A local band came to play traditional Breton music, and members of the "Celtic club" taught us several Breton dances! Most of the dances are quite repetitive, but easy to get a hang of, and students (and host families!) had a lot of fun dancing for a couple of hours.

Tuesday was pretty uneventful! During lunch our students chatted with French students they had met the previous week.

After lunch, students evaluated their host families and their first week and a half in the program:

Wednesday afternoon is usually off in French primary schools, and some kids spend the afternoon in a Centre de Loisirs, which is supervised by the town. So today, we spent the afternoon in the Centre de Loisirs of Langueux, a nearby town:

We met French kids and started with ice breakers and games:

Then, we moved to the main event of the afternoon. The first activity was learning how to make crêpes :

The second activity was learning about the bagpipes. A local musician came to teach our students about the instrument and played it for us. Some of our students even tried playing themselves!

Finally we had to say goodbye, and event after only one afternoon spent together, some of the kids will definitely miss our students!
